About
Using Social Media
in ESL|EFL|ESOL English Language Teaching
and Corporate Language Training
Hi and Welcome!

Hi! I'm Eileen O'Neill - Glad you dropped in! Please look around, let me know what you think and subscribe to my eZine, "The Sidewalk Cafe"!
Using Social Media and Computer-Mediated Communications (CMC) in English second/foreign language teaching, as well as Corporate Language Training sums up why I have put this site up.
Social media, social networking and CMC are now part of our daily lives. Many of the people we train, teach, tutor and consult use these tools in their own languages, but can they transfer those skills to use these means in English?
As we have worked with our students, trainees and clients with the 4 basic skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking, I believe we now must include CMC (computer mediated communications) and social media in their English language syllabus so that they can use these proficiently and effectively in their jobs, studies and life.
Our students and clients can use computer-mediated communications in the various new media: emails, webinars, etc., as well as with the social media: Linked In, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc., and the social networking sites: Digg, Squidoo, Delicious, etc.
Some of our students will already fell at home with these new means; others will need to “get their feet wet” and test them out as they learn English.
For CMC and Social Media – You’re at the Right Website!
So, if you are interested in learning more about how you can incorporate computer-mediated communications and social media into your EFL/ESL lesson plans, as content and tools, as well as marketing avenues for your own language service and business, you have come to the right website.
I am currently developing this website for English language teachers, trainers, tutors, and consultants, as well as setting up an eZine, “The Sidewalk Cafe“ where I’ll explore the impact of Social Media and CMC on English language teaching.
New media and social media offer teaching, consulting and coaching professionals the opportunity to use these means as educational content and instruments or tools in their lesson plans, and as marketing tools for their profession - for language teaching, training, tutoring and consulting is a service and a business.

I look forward to chatting with you, so make a comment here or on my other sites.
